About Mark Donohue

As Founder of the Expansion Capital Partners, LLC, Mark T. Donohue oversaw the operations, fundraising, portfolio, deals sourcing and marketing of the San Francisco-based Cleantech Venture Capital firm during his long history with the firm. As an investment specialist, Mark Donohue led the firm’s investing into bourgeoning Cleantech enterprises with compelling risk-return profiles. In June 2008, Mr. Mark Donohue was appointed Chairman Emeritus of Expansion Capital Partners, after he sold his interests and transitioned to teaching entrepreneurship at Babson College.

During his 20-year career as an entrepreneur and venture capital investor, Mark Donohue worked for multiple venture-backed companies in management positions, most notably as a CEO, Chief Operating Officer, Director of Business Development, Director, and Chairman of the Board. Prior to forming Expansion Capital Partners, entrepreneur Mark Donohue founded two other successful investment management firms: Social Capital Partners and Symphony Capital Management.

Mark Donohue has a degree in Investment Management, with Honors, from the nation’s highest-ranking entrepreneurship business school, Babson College, located in Wellesley, Massachusetts. A hard-working and active student, Mark Donohue played varsity golf, co-led multiple academic clubs and societies, received a scholarship, and has recently served on his Alma Mater’s Board of Overseers since his appointment in 2002.
